چکیده

Purpose: Actinic keratosis (AK) is a premalignant lesion that has 1-10% potential of progression to squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). The purpose this study was non-invasively collect skin samples from subjects with lesions clinically suspicious for AK and SCC identify genes may indicate the likelihood progressing SCC. Materials Methods: Skin were collected adhesive patch kits prior biopsy RNA isolated detect gene expression levels sequencing. All diagnoses histopathologically confirmed after non-invasive collection. A threshold fold change >2 adjusted p value <0.05 used as cutoff determining differentially expressed (DEGs). Results: 47 examined, consisting 12 AK, 13 in-situ SCC, 22 invasive There 11 between (p<0.05). After correction gDNA contamination, there 219 found (p<0.05) 6 overlapping DEGs before comparing These included KRT1, KRT2, KRT6C, FABP5, IVNS1ABP, SLC2A3. Conclusions: finding support model evolving suggest option be available monitor an aid in early detection, treatment, prevention disease progression. Additional studies are needed elucidate have serve sentinels advancement.

Actinic keratosis and squamous cell carcinoma.

Actinic keratosis is a common skin disorder in elderly patients with fair complexions. It is caused by exposure to ultraviolet light. If left untreated, actinic keratosis may progress to squamous cell carcinoma. The metastatic potential and prognosis vary with the type and location of the lesion. Several approaches to treatment are available, including local destruction, excisional surgery, Moh...

Lamin expression in normal human skin, actinic keratosis, squamous cell carcinoma and basal cell carcinoma.

BACKGROUND Aberrant expression patterns of nuclear lamins have been described in various types of cancer depending on the subtype of cancer, its aggressiveness, proliferative capacity and degree of differentiation. In general, the expression of A-type lamins (lamins A and C) has been correlated with a non-proliferating, differentiated state of cells and tissues. OBJECTIVES To establish and co...

Genomic instability in human actinic keratosis and squamous cell carcinoma

OBJECTIVE To compare the repetitive DNA patterns of human actinic keratoses and squamous cell carcinomas to determine the genetic alterations that are associated with malignant transformation. INTRODUCTION Cancer cells are prone to genomic instability, which is often due to DNA polymerase slippage during the replication of repetitive DNA and to mutations in the DNA repair genes. The progressi...
